NBEC 11th Conference 2007

Overview

The Canadian Conference on Building Science and Technology provides a forum for the presentation, discussion and sharing of practical Building Science research, knowledge and field experience. Traditionally, the Conference has brought together architects, engineers, building scientists, and researchers to discuss Building Science principles and issues governing the design, construction, repair, renovation and operation of all building types. For the past 22 years, this highly successful Conference has earned a reputation for focusing on real world experiences, problem solving and applied research in the study of the performance of building envelope systems.

The 11th Canadian Building Science and Technology Conference is presented by the National Building Envelope Council (NBEC) and will be organized and hosted by the Alberta Building Envelope Council (ABEC) at the Banff Centre set in the heart of the Canadian Rockies in Banff, Alberta, Canada on March 22-23, 2007. The theme for the 11th Conference is: "Principles into Practice - Practice into Principles - Closing the Loop"

The basis of this theme stems from lack of communication between practitioners and researchers, designers and builders, contractors and trades people, and other pairings of industry participants who tend to work in isolation from one another.

In summary, we need to work on closing the loop so that iterations between industry segments move more quickly to use of better details that improve building performance.

The main objective of the 11th Building Science and Technology Conference is to demonstrate the role of experience and observation of building performance and user satisfaction in improving and refining Building Science principles and their application to design.
